My Birth Story (1984)
This past Monday I celebrated one more year on this earth. I randomly remembered I have my birth pictures with me, so I thought I’d share them here because it’s so rare to have birth photos from 30+ years ago!
Whenever I visit my parents in Brazil I take the time to sit and look through the millions of albums my mom has from my childhood. It’s always interesting to pinpoint what kind of features my kids have that I also had as a child, and to see how much I look like my mom now that I’m an adult (as a kid everyone always said I looked exactly like my dad).
Last time I visited was 2 years ago, but I managed to come across my birth photos (and bring them home with me!). It was such a heart warming experience to look at those from the perspective of a person who documents other people’s birth stories.
My uncle was in charge of the pictures and he did a really good job. Also, so amazing that they let him into the OR because I ended up being delivered via cesarean. My mom tells the story of how her water broke and the contractions slowly followed along, but after a whole day she didn’t have any dilation, so a cesarean was called for.
