THE BIRTH OF LYRIC
When I met Tahiti I felt like we clicked right away. She is an amazing singer and also a vlogger, so it was awesome being able to talk the geeky talk about video and what formats we both favored and how I could help in making her vision for her birth film come to life.
When the big day arrived I walked into a dimly lit hospital room, with music softly playing. She was laboring hard surrounded by her mom (who was the most amazing support person I've ever seen, seriously!), her best friend Sean (who was massaging her and using oils and just being awesome) and her husband, Harumi, who I could see was an emotional mess from seeing his wife laboring so hard, but who was there by her side, giving words of comfort and comforting touches and being a rock.
When I went back to edit her film I cried the whole time. Her support system was solid and incredible. She had so much physical and emotional reassurance and it comes through so well in the clips that I got.
When baby Lyric made his way earth side the next morning, I saw and documented his dad crying tears of joy and the moment he became a dad. I saw Tahiti pull her baby up to her chest while her 2 best friends, her mom and her husband watched in tears. It was amazing!
I feel so honored to have been there and to have captured this beautiful story of love.
And because Tahiti is a singer, she recorded her version of the song "Baby Mine" so we could use on the birth film. You need to watch the whole thing and listen to her sing - it was the cherry on top for an already breathtaking birth story.
