The Birth of Giulia | Oahu Hawaii Birth Photographer and Videographer
2019 was such a special year for me as a birth photographer. I’ve been documenting births for over 7 years now, and it’s one of the most exciting things to witness and watch unfold, and most of all, it’s still a privilege to be able to document this life changing and life giving process.
I wish I could be there for all my family and friends, to give them this gift of telling their baby’s story via images. But birth photography is not for every person out there, and as I have matured into this job, I now understand that fully. But in the rare occasion one of my friends invite me into their birth space, my heart soars.
This was the case for Mariana and Fabiano. I’ve known Fabiano for more than 10 years. And to be there for the birth of this baby, years into our friendship, was truly remarkable.
Mariana was a warrior mama. Her water bag ruptured on its own but the contractions didn’t come on their own. She stayed calm and fierce through her pitocin induced labor (no epidural), surrounded by her sister and her mom (who both came from Brazil for the birth). Her sister had just found out she was pregnant a few months after Mari, and surprised her by flying over to be with here for the birth. It was emotional. It was beautiful. It was a bond of love that gave me the tingles and inundated my soul.
It’s always thrilling to see life come into the world in such a loving space. Thank you for letting me document it for you Mari and Fabiano <3
Happy 1st birthday Giulia!
